Book Review: Last Chance Christmas by Hope Ramsay

Last Chance Christmas

Release Date: September 25, 2012

Summary: Dear Reader,
I've been wishing for a miracle for my oldest boy, Stone, and this Christmas my prayers might just be answered!

Her name is Lark, and she's here in Last Chance, looking into her father's past-and stirring up a whole mess of trouble without meaning to. As the chief of police, Stone sure has his hands full trying to keep up with her. Ever since his wife died, Stone's put everything into raising his daughters and dodging the Christ Church Ladies' Auxiliary matchmakers. And it's clear Lark has been through some trouble and could use a place to finally call home. I only hope Stone can let go of the past soon enough to keep her . . .
Goodness, I need to stop talking and finish up Jane's highlights so we can make the town tree-lighting. You come back by because the Cut 'n' Curl's got hot rollers, free coffee, fresh-baked Christmas cookies-and the best gossip in town.

See you real soon,
Ruby Rhodes

Review: Oh my goodness, Hope Ramsay sure knows how to write a romance that will pull on your heartstrings! I've read a couple of the other books in the Last Chance series, but I have to say this Christmas romance with Stone and Lark is by far my favorite one!

Stone is the chief of police in Last Chance, and he's dealt with a lot when it comes to the heart; he married his wife when he was only 18 and she died in a car crash, leaving him with their two little girls. About 6 years later, Lark Aiken, a pulitzer prize winning photojournalist, shows up in town, wanting to scatter her father's ashes on the 18th hole of the Golfing For God course in Last Chance. Little does she know her father was not a very popular fellow in that town, considering he had run off 40 years ago, leaving a dead body and a legend behind. The mystery behind if he was responsible for the death of his friend was never solved, so when Lark comes back into town with his ashes, a whole lot of trouble is stirred up. Not to mention Stone finds himself having feelings he hasn't had since his wife died. Oh, and Lark is only in town until Christmas Day, where a flight to Africa is waiting for her back home.

Stone is definitely the kind of hero every girl wants to find in her life. He's the strong, silent, and gorgeous type who knows exactly how to treat a girl right. And Lark is the perfect girl for him. She knows what it's like to lose someone, considering she's lost many friends while photographing wars and famines, and she knows how to take care of herself. Lark is such a strong character, yet she still had her shadows she just couldn't seem to forget. I loved how Lark and Stone helped each other get over their pasts and learn to let people in again.

Last Chance Christmas was such an adorable romance that had just the perfect touch of holiday spirit. And there's even a little added murder mystery, just to keep things interesting. I would definitely recommend this book to any Nicholas Sparks fan and to anyone who's looking for a little Christmas romance this holiday season.
